History of the Lego Angeles Fire Department.
The Lego Angeles Fire Department was founded on May 25, 1960. The department had very few members and apparatus. The department covered a total of 8 square miles of land, and served approximately 500 people. Today, the department has been in service for over 51 years! The current population that the department serves is about 3,100,500, and approximately 25 square miles of land. The department grew rapidly. It's known to be "LA's Hottest Job" due to a staggering amount of 1,820 members. The department currently runs 13 fire stations located strategically throughout the city, 170 pieces of fire apparatus, and to make things even hotter, the department handles a majority of the city's medical emergencies. Lego Angeles has been known as "The City of Bricks" for several years now. The department handles a rough total of about 300,000 alarms a year and has been protecting the city ever since 1960.
ABOUT THE FOUNDER.
My name is Mike. I am a volunteer firefighter and am extremely interested in Public Safety. I started building at the age of 7. Many of my inspirational builders and departments are listed in the "Other Info" Page on the site. My first set was the Lego City Fire Station (Set 7945). From there, at the age of 10, I purchased the City's Engine 5 from Tom Duggan of the St. Lego Fire Department. I have since purchased 7 more rigs from him, and I continue to build up my department. I am better known for building and designing smaller vehicles. I am a member of the New Hartford, NY Fire Department, I like to play Xbox and video games, as well as go shooting. Airsoft is one of my favorite things to do. I've always been fascinated with locks and locksmithing. I love movies and older TV series such as "EMERGENCY" and "Adam-12."
